TV Shows Worth Watching This Week: Project Runway, The Five-Star Weekend & More

Hey, TV watchers! Every two weeks, I highlight the shows worth your TV time for Trust Me, I Watch Everything. Whether you prefer sticking to cable, catching the latest streaming hits, or discovering a hidden gem that slipped under the radar, there’s something here for everyone.

If you’re dealing with a heat wave, now’s the perfect excuse to crank up the AC and settle in for a binge. This week’s recommendations include the return of Project Runway, Peacock’s addictive drama The Five-Star Weekend, Netflix’s new Little House on the Prairie reboot, and a standout international series you may have missed.

📺 My Recommendation: Project Runway

Why You Should Watch

“In fashion, one day you’re in. And the next day, you’re out.”

More than 20 years later, Heidi Klum’s iconic catchphrase still packs a punch.

Season 22 of Project Runway premieres on Freeform and Hulu, and it’s the biggest season yet. This year features 22 designers competing for the grand prize, though six are eliminated during the premiere.

The show’s familiar formula remains irresistible: contestants create runway-worthy looks under impossible deadlines and limited budgets before facing critiques from Heidi Klum, fashion editor Nina Garcia, celebrity stylist Law Roach, and a rotating lineup of guest judges—including Tyra Banks.

Reality TV and fashion have changed dramatically since 2004, and this cast brings more personality—and more drama—than ever. Contestants aren’t afraid to throw shade, especially RuPaul’s Drag Race veterans Q and Plane Jane, whose sharp one-liners add extra entertainment.

Thankfully, the heart of the show hasn’t changed. From unconventional-material challenges to emotional eliminations, Project Runway continues to prove why it’s one of television’s most enduring competition series.

🍿 My Recommendation: The Five-Star Weekend

Why You Should Watch

If you’re looking for the television equivalent of a beach read, The Five-Star Weekend is an easy recommendation.

Based on Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel, the Peacock drama stars Jennifer Garner as Hollis Shaw, a successful food blogger whose seemingly perfect life is shattered after the sudden death of her husband.

Seeking a fresh start, Hollis invites four friends from different chapters of her life to spend a weekend together at her Nantucket beach house. As old friendships reconnect, buried secrets begin to surface, changing everyone’s relationships in unexpected ways.

The stellar cast includes Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, D’Arcy Carden, and Gemma Chan, all delivering memorable performances.

While it may not become one of the greatest dramas ever made, it’s an enjoyable, feel-good mystery that’s perfect for a relaxing summer binge.

Where to watch: Peacock

⭐ Bonus Recommendation: Proud

Filip Raczyński in a scene from "Proud." Young man with short bleached hair carries a toddler girl while standing next to a car.

Why You Should Watch

If you’re after something more emotional, Proud is a hidden gem worth discovering.

Written and directed by Karol Klementewicz, the Polish drama follows Filip Raczyński (Ignacy Liss), a carefree fashion model whose life changes overnight after the sudden death of his sister.

Forced to raise his young niece despite having little experience with responsibility, Filip embarks on a difficult journey through grief, parenthood, and personal growth.

The series doesn’t shy away from showing his flaws, making his transformation feel authentic and deeply moving. It’s a powerful story about resilience, community, and learning to grow up when life gives you no choice.

Where to watch: HBO Max (new episodes every Friday)

Little House on the Prairie

Netflix’s reimagining of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s beloved Western brings the Ingalls family back to the screen as they begin a new life in the American Midwest in 1868, following the aftermath of the Civil War. Created by Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys, The Housemaid), the series expands the original story by giving greater attention to Native American characters while preserving the warmth and charm that made the classic series a fan favorite. All eight episodes are now streaming on Netflix.

Survival of the Thickest

If you enjoy the fashion-forward fun of Emily in Paris, Survival of the Thickest deserves a spot on your watchlist. The comedy follows Mavis (Michelle Buteau), an ambitious stylist navigating life, love, and career in New York City alongside her best friends, Khalil (Tone Bell) and Marley (Tasha Smith). While the third season tackles Mavis’s fertility journey and major career changes, the first two seasons remain just as funny, heartfelt, and full of charm. All three seasons are now streaming on Netflix.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Among the latest generation of Star Trek series, Strange New Worlds stands out as one of the franchise’s strongest entries. Set a decade before the original series, it follows Captain Christopher Pike, Spock, and the crew of the USS Enterprise through classic, episodic adventures that blend humor, exploration, and emotional storytelling. The series perfectly balances nostalgic callbacks with fresh stories, making it a must-watch for longtime Trekkies and newcomers alike. New weekly episodes begin streaming on Paramount+ starting Thursday, July 23.
