Although Blake Lively did not receive any financial payout in her legal settlement with Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer parties, the broader legal dispute may still continue.
In a court filing dated May 8, attorneys for the Wayfarer defendants stated that Lively, 38, dismissed her remaining claims without any payment from the opposing side, despite previously seeking $300 million in damages.
A source close to Lively, however, said the case was never about financial compensation. According to the source, the goal was to bring attention to alleged misconduct and support accountability for similar situations involving other individuals. The source also noted that Lively waited to resolve her claims until certain documents related to alleged smear campaigns were made public.
Lively and Baldoni, 42, reached a settlement earlier this month, which prevented a trial that had been scheduled to begin on May 18 in New York City.
As part of the agreement, both sides released a joint statement describing their shared appreciation for the film It Ends With Us and its message of raising awareness for domestic violence survivors.
The dispute stems from allegations made by Lively in December 2024, in which she accused Baldoni, her director and co-star, of sexual harassment and claimed he and his team retaliated against her. Baldoni has denied all allegations.
Some claims in the broader lawsuit were previously dismissed by a federal judge, while others remain under review, including whether Lively may recover legal fees or damages under California’s anti-retaliation law.
Attorneys for Baldoni and Wayfarer have argued that the protections under that statute should not apply, claiming many of the alleged incidents occurred outside California. They also maintain that Lively voluntarily dismissed her remaining claims.
