Camila Cabello surprises with cover of Natalie Imbruglia live in Australia

The Cuban-American star performed a piano version of the 1998 hit during her tour of Yours, C.

Camila Cabello surprised her fans with a piano performance by “Torn,” the successful single that brought Natalie Imbruglia to fame in 1998, during a couple of concerts in Australia this week (27-30 August).

Melbourne and Sydney, two of the last stops of the Yours, C Tour de Cabello – the singer of C,XOXO has scheduled a concert on September 14 in Sao Paulo, Brazil – were the perfect stage to perform “Torn,” recorded by Australian Imbruglia for her 1997 debut album, Left of the Middle. Sitting at the piano on both shows, Cabello channeled the sincerity of Imbruglia’s vocal performance in “Torn,” and on Saturday night she shared a video of one of her X-ray performances.

“When you’re in Australia… you have to sing “Torn”, Cabello wrote in the publication. I love you Natalie Imbruglia and I love you Australia.

Imbruglia’s Torn’s came to No.1 on three Billboard charts (Radio Songs, Pop Airplay and Adult Pop Airplay) in 1998, and reached No. 42 on the Hot 100. She was nominated for the Grammy for best female pop vocal performance, but lost to Celine Dion and her inescapable “My Heart Will Go On.” Although the version of Imbruglia’s version is the one most pop fans know, it was actually also a cover for her: the song was originally released by the band Ednaswap in 1995.

Imbruglia has released a total of six albums throughout her career, with 2021’s Firebird being her most recent work. Last year, he participated in the program The Masked Singer under the guise of “Bluebell.”
