Britney Spears was arrested in Ventura, Calif.
According to arrest records from the Ventura Sheriff’s Office, Spears, 44, was placed under arrest on the evening of Wednesday, March 4. She was released early in the morning on Thursday, March 5.
TMZ was the first to report the news, stating that Spears was arrested for a DUI.
The arrest was listed as a “cite and release” with no probation listed.
Spears is due to appear in court for this incident on May 4.
Spears, whose social media videos have garnered a lot of online chatter, also seemingly deleted her Instagram sometime after the arrest.
This arrest comes amid years of highs and lows for the singer. In 2021 Spears was released from her 13-year conservatorship by an L.A. county judge. Last month, sources confirmed that Spears sold her music catalogue. It is unclear how much she was paid for her music.
