The actress first met singer-songwriter Hutson while recording music years ago
Maya Hawke and Christian Lee Hutson said “I do!”
The actress, 27, and the singer, 35, got married during a surprise Valentine’s Day wedding in New York City on Saturday, Feb. 14
Maya’s famous parents — dad, Ethan Hawke, and mom, Uma Thurman — were both in attendance, as were many of her Stranger Things castmates, including Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton and Joe Keery.

Maya wore a white wedding dress with an oversized and feathery winter coat, while Hutson kept things classic in a tuxedo.
Mother of the bride Thurman, 55, paired a light blue gown with matching shoes, while Ethan, also 55, wore an all-black ensemble.
The former pair were married from 1998 to 2005. Along with Maya, they also share a son Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke, who was also in attendance at the Feb. 14 nuptials. (Ethan is also dad to Clementine Jean Hawke and Indiana Hawke, whom he welcomed with his wife, Ryan Shawhughes Hawke, and Thurman has another daughter, Luna, with ex-fiancé Arpad Busson.)
Representatives for both Maya and Hutson did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Sunday, Feb. 15.

Hutson confirmed that Maya was his fiancée while speaking with SoCal Sound Session last year.
When host Julie Slater mentioned that Hutson worked on the track “Carousel Horses” from his album Paradise Pop. 10 with Phoebe Bridgers and his “fiancée” Maya, the musician replied, “Yeah.”
The comments came two months before Maya was photographed in April, flashing a diamond ring on her wedding finger while talking on the phone in Manhattan.
That same month, the couple made their red carpet debut at the opening night of John Proctor Is the Villain, where Maya showed up to support Sink at New York City’s Booth Theater.
The Inside Out 2 star previously attended the Prada FW25 show during Milan Fashion Week with Hutson on Feb. 27.
Maya later posted a photo of the pair sitting front row at the runway show on Instagram on March 3.
Maya first met singer-songwriter Hutson while recording music years ago. The New York-based musician opened up for Bridgers on tour between 2022 and 2023, and he was featured on Maya’s 2024 album, Chaos Angel.
In February 2024, Hutson shared a Valentine’s Day post that included a photo of him and Maya sitting together on a couch.

“The first song from Maya’s new record, Chaos Angel, is out now. I love this song. I love this record. can’t wait to share the rest of it,” Hutson wrote in the caption.
In July 2024, Maya posted candid snaps on Instagram, including images of her and Hutson lying on a bed and sitting on a plane together.
She wrote in her caption, “I am lucky enough to know this guy @christianleehutson. He is a poet musical genius,” and added that she was “lucky enough to write with him” on his album, Paradise Pop. 10.

During an interview on the Zach Sang Show that same month, Maya spoke of the couple’s relationship.
“It’s awesome. I cannot recommend highly enough dating your friends. It’s the best. They know you, and as a human being who has dated other people,” she said. “They really know you as a person who has feelings … not just a piece of paper for them to project their image of perfect girlfriend onto.”
