Kesha says music industry ‘should be terrified’ following the launch of her own label

After establishing her own record company, Kesha declared that the music industry should be “terrified of me.”

Her sixth studio album Joyride is set to be released by her company in 2025.

The singer, whose real name is Kesha Rose Sebert told Elle that she wants to work with the label to “dismantle” oppressive practices in the music business.

Speaking about her new label, she told Elle: “The music industry should be f******* terrified of me, because I’m about to make some major moves and shift this sh**

“I really want to dismantle it piece by piece and shine light into every corner. I hope my legacy is making sure it never happens to anybody ever again.”

After going through the trauma of the events surrounding her legal case, the TiK ToK singer told the magazine that her new music and label was a “feminist act of defiance.”

Kesha said: “I really think that my joy is such a feminist act of defiance.

“And to everyone who has supported me, and to anyone who’s a survivor out there, know that the energy of support toward me also flows through me to you.”

Kesha added: “When I was coming up, I wished there was some woman in pop music that I could have reached out to and talked to about stuff I was going through.”

“I found more support from the rock boys, Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, and Alice Cooper were very real, and helped me talk through things.”

“So now I try to reach out to artists, girls and women, and just offer my services of life experience.”

She confessed she wanted to become a mentor to the upcoming generation of women in pop: “I really hope my joy can stand for others to know that it’s available to them and to not give up.”

“I enjoy feeling my power, which hasn’t been available to me for a really long time, and I’d love to give that gift to others if I can.”

Back in 2014, Kesha filed a lawsuit against Dr. Luke, accusing him of drugging and raping her after a party in 2005.

The songstress claimed that Dr. Luke, whose full name is Lukasz Gottwald, had been sexually, physically and verbally abusive during the ten years they worked together.

The music producer vehemently denied the allegations, and subsequently filed a defamation lawsuit against Kesha.

Dr. Luke claimed Kesha made the claims against him as leverage to secure a more lucrative deal, which she denied.

Nine years in 2023, after their legal battle commenced, Kesha and Dr. Luke settled the case.

In a statement, Kesha said: “Only God knows what happened that night as I have always said. I cannot recount everything that happened.”

“I am looking forward to closing the door on this chapter of my life and beginning a new one. I wish nothing but peace to all parties involved.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Luke said: “While I appreciate Kesha again acknowledging that she cannot recount what happened that night in 2005, I am absolutely certain that nothing happened.”

“I never drugged or assaulted her and would never do that to anyone. For the sake of my family, I have vigorously fought to clear my name for nearly 10 years.”

He concluded, “It is time for me to put this difficult matter behind me and move on with my life. I wish Kesha well.”
